Fireside Chat with Daniel Mes: What to Expect for Multi-modal Ticketing under the MDMS Proposal

The Impact Assessment for MDMS proposal was submitted to the Commission’s to the Regulatory Scrutiny Board in late July, after the proposal had been postponed several time. In the preceeding weeks and months, the potential policy options were been subject to intense public discussion. In June 2023, an open letter was published by a coalition of stakeholders including EU travel tech and BEUC calling upon the European Commission to live up to the initial level of ambition and actually make multi-modal ticketing working easier. In addition, 16 MEPs across political groups called upon the European Commission to come forward with an ambitious proposal that empowers consumers, and that liberalises online ticketing. On Tuesday, 1 August, Dave Keating (France 24) spoke with Daniel Mes from the Cabinet of EVP Timmermans about what can be expected from the upcoming proposal on Multimodal Digital Mobility Services.
