8 April, Enabling seamless travel: Onboarding EU multimodal ticketing journey

With Commission President Ursula von der Leyen having tasked Transport Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas with a proposal for a Single Digital Booking and Ticketing Regulation (SDBTR), multimodal travel has become a pertinent topic on the transport policy agenda of the von der Leyen II Commission.

Currently, cross-border travel remains very complicated for many citizens, so people should be able to use open booking systems to purchase trans-European journeys with multiple providers. The ambition of the SDBTR is to ensure that Europeans can book their entire journey, combining various cross-border transport modes without any hassle.

While DG MOVE progresses with its work on the impact assessment study, the scope and structure of further legislative measures are yet to be determined. Even still, the ambition has been clearly set up: a true multimodal ticketing framework for consumers in Europe, enabling to travel seamlessly.

We would be delighted for you to join us alongside our distinguished speakers from the European Parliament, European Commission, Member State representatives, BEUC, CER, eDreams ODIGEO and Omio, bringing your insights to our conversation on an effective EU ticketing policy.
