Travelling in COVID Times: How Can Transparency Restore Travellers’ Confidence?
On Thursday 3 February, eu travel tech hosted the fifth webinar of its series; “Travel your way – the Sustainable and Resilient Travel Forum”. The event focused on how to safely restore the confidence in travel for European citizens, the challenges ahead and possible solutions after two years from the Covid-19 outbreak.
The event featured an interesting discussion between Sandra Carvão (UNWTO), Leonor Picão (Turismo de Portugal), Becky Foley (Tripadvisor) and Inge Huijbrechts (Radisson Hotels), with the closing remarks delivered by MEP Josianne Cutajar (S&D).
Speakers provided concrete ideas on how to increase cooperation among stakeholders, improve consumers’ confidence, and make international travel and tourism in Europe more accessible and transparent, with moderator Dave Keating from France 24 guiding an insightful discussion which included several questions from the audience. In total, about 45 people joined the webinar, including a number of representatives of the EU institutions, the UN, and national ministries, along with stakeholders in the private sector.
